Photography
In “That Music Always Round Me”, Walt Whitman wrote: “I do not think the performers know themselves – but now I think I begin to know them”. Being a musician myself, I often feel we have no idea what is in the mind of the person playing music on stage; what is his real life about.
I guess, that is one of the reasons why I am doing the portrait photography as a fine art hobby. That is my way of showing what is inside of a creative person. Inspired by photography of Francis Wolff who did great portraits of jazz musicians at Blue Note Records, I made series in low key of several musicians from School of Music in Western Michigan University. I did photography in other styles too, but this one is still my favorite.
